I just wanted to report a couple of issues with Kingsoft Spreadsheets. The first is a bug which occurs when you split the window horizontally, which can be created as follows.
1) Create a horizontal split something like this:
http://tinypic.com/r/op7g9i/32) In the lower half of the split scroll down a few hundred rows, just so you’re not at the top of the spreadsheet.
3) In the lower split start highlighting a block of cells and when doing so move the cursor to the far left of the window (over the row number labels).
4) The scroll position will immediately jump to the top of the window so row 1 will now be at the top of the lower split.
This is very annoying when you just want to highlight a few rows but end up highlighting the entire spreadsheet from the row you were at to the top. It only happens when you have a horizontal split and does not occur when there is no split.
The other issue is with the 24 hour time format. The convention with 24 hour time is to pad the hour with a leading 0 so half past nine should be 09:30:00. In Kingosoft Spreadsheets there is no leading 0 so it is displayed at 9:30:00 which looks inconsistent and rather odd:

I’ve been using Kingsoft Spreadsheets every day since the 2009 beta came out and I’m very happy with it. However, I am continuing to use Microsoft Word 2003 rather than Kingsoft Writer because there is still a large number of issues with Writer’s on-the-fly spellchecker. I haven’t used it much at all but in brief testing I’ve found a large number of issues. A few of them are:
It doesn’t spell check when you modify a word so you can change a word to an incorrect spelling and it will not be underlined as a spelling error. It appears that a word is only spell checked when you press space after it when it should be checked on any modification.
Spelling errors are not saved and the spell check is not run when you open a document. This means that if you save a document with underlined spelling errors when you open it again the spelling errors will not be underlined.
It doesn’t spell check pasted text, so if you past in text with spelling errors they will not be underlined.
While improvements have been made to the handling of apostrophes it still flags some uses as errors, particularly with proper nouns. For example John’s and Wednesday’s would be flagged as an error even though both John and Wednesday are in the dictionary.
Word’s are missing from the spellchecker, particularly names. For example while John is in the spellchecker Richard isn’t.
I would very much like to uninstall Microsoft Office and switch to Kingsoft Office completely but until the Writer spellchecker improves that won’t be possible. Is work being done to improve the spellchecker?
